Arizona Surveying had the pleasure of performing the construction staking for the new Desert View Tribal Welcome Center at the Grand Canyon. The catalyst for the project was to increase opportunities for First Voice interpretation by the eleven affiliated tribes associated with the Grand Canyon to provide one-on-one interaction between demonstrators and visitors. After analyzing many options, the concept of a very “light touch” approach to the buildings and site was selected – utilizing an existing stone building, expanding an outdoor activity demonstration area, and custom designed restrooms, all to be compatible with the cultural and natural beauty of the site.
Bretton Luckow and Bryan Martin performed the staking for the new the walking path and Ramada near the old book store at Desert View. The historic building of the old book store will be rehabilitated into be the Tribal Welcome Center.
